An organization’s alignment connects its purpose (what it does and why) to its business strategy (how it fulfils its purpose), organizational capability (what it needs to be good at to win), resource architecture (what makes the organization good), and, finally, management systems (what delivers the winning performance). Some call this “organizational design.” But, it’s more involved than that. It’s an integration of all core elements of the organization.
Our experience in working with scores of organizations enables us to work with all levels to ask the right questions and zero-in on the alignment areas that are in most need of attention. We then work with stakeholders to set out and implement a plan to get all the elements on the same track. Multiple individuals and groups are responsible for these different elements, and it’s essential to get these working together toward sustained improvement.
